Canadian Hereford Association Summer Student Position 2025 - Administrative Assistant

The Canadian Hereford Association (CHA) is seeking a summer student with a keen interest in the purebred cattle industry to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with CHA staff, gaining valuable experience in the administrative aspects of purebred cattle registry and performance program requirements, as well as the promotion and advertising of the breed. The position can be filled remotely but will require some travel to the CHA office in Calgary, AB, and to summer Hereford events.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing a social media plan across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube.
  • Revise and update various documents, handbooks, guidelines, and fact sheets.
  • Create promotional videos and PowerPoint presentations as needed.
  • Design and organize the CJHA Calendar, including ad management and follow-up with advertisers.
  • Catalogue Hereford photos and transition them into a digital library on One Drive.
    • Develop a naming system for search and photo credits.
  • Organize Bonanza photos and show results for publication in the Digest.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience and understanding of the cattle industry.
  • Interest in communications within the cattle sector.
  • Strong report writing, editing, and formatting skills.
  • Ability to create engaging content for CHA members and non-members.

 

Details:

  • Wage: $18-$20/hour, based on experience
  • Work Hours: 35 hours per week
  • Employment Period: June 16, 2025 to August 13, 2025
